This is the first Algae Metric album, collecting synthesizer music I made throughout 2016. It seems to have two things on its mind: mid-to-downtempo yearning indoor music which wears its Blue Nile/Cluster/Talk Talk/Eno on its sleeve and hangs loose, and mid-to-uptempo brusque fake crime jazz which hangs tight and tries with varying success to evade danceability. An occult procession and two malformed hypnagogea are included so that there needn’t be too much space left on one side of the C90.

Naked and unashamed synth patches are preferred; our sauce uses a minimum of reverb and delay because we care about your health. This album was programmed & performed in the iOS workstation app Nanostudio, and most of the sounds are made by Nanostudio’s excellent onboard synthesizer, Eden (though there are triggered samples of other synths in the rhythm tracks and a lot of Virtual ANS sampled into "Culture Minus"). The big swaggering drums on “The Allotment” are by Amanda Kraus, and thank heaven for that.
